3 Ways to Tweak Your Tweets

Social Media Guides and How To's No Comments

When it comes to using Twitter successfully to engage customers and build online awareness, there are no secrets. In fact, the key to success is fairly straightforward and Social Media Explorer’s Jason Falls has summed it up in three simple words: “Share Good Bleep .”

For most of us though, it’s the implementation that trips us up. What’s good? What’s bad? And what’s just plain ugly? That depends on your audience and whether they’re following you to gain insight on industry trends or find out the soup of the day.

There are ways, however, to tweak your tweets so they’re more likely to engage the audience. Since Twitter isn’t limited to simple text messages, here are three ways to share compelling content links that will engage followers (and their followers and their followers, etc.)

 Give ‘em a show.

A good quality, relevant video will connect with followers in a format that’s so much richer than those 140 characters. What kind of videos can you tweet? Here are a few examples:

  • Customer testimonials
  • Product demos
  • New product teasers
  • Commercials
  • Community relations messages

Post the pics.

Along with video, photos are a great way to humanize your brand. Tweet a photo of the gang at your local networking happy hour (no body shots or table dancing, please!) or snap a pic of the stray kittens that were born behind the warehouse. The right photos will help consumers realize there are real, honest-to-goodness people behind the brand—and that helps build ROI-generating relationships.

Live from….

Provide the audience with relevant play by play from live events. Headed to a conference or a local chamber event? Consider tweeting a summary of the keynote speaker’s address. Just remember to live Tweet in moderation. That means don’t broadcast the low-lights of a snooze-worthy sales meeting and don’t tweet a speaker’s every, single sentence.

Tweaking brand tweets is just one facet of interacting with customers online. To learn more about creating a comprehensive strategy that will engage your audience, contact the team with the right blend of technical expertise and customer engagement experience: Social Strategy1.
