Twitter Troubles for Congressman – Will it be a Reputation Wrecker?
Anthony Weiner has a problem, as you’ve likely heard. The New York Democratic Congressman says a suggestive photo posted on his Twitter account was the work of a prankster or hacker. The photo was sent to a female college student and has since been deleted from Weiner’s account.
The most interesting part of what is now being dubbed “Weinergate” has been his reaction. Initially he tweeted a comment that seemed to make light of the incident; however he later appeared angry when confronted by CNN with questions—even calling one producer an ugly name.
In the soap opera that is American politics, Weiner is known for his fiery style. But some are starting to question the defensiveness he’s developed over the last few days. Was he the victim of a hacker? I don’t know. But I do know that how he handles the situation on social media and other media platforms may ultimately decide how the public remembers the scandal.
