Treat Social Content as a Business Asset

April 28, 2011 | By | No Comments

Do you think of your content as a business asset? If not, it might be time to adopt that mindset. On Conversation Agent, Valeria Maltoni writes that thinking of content as an asset used to attract a target audience helps a brand boost social’s profit potential.

So how do you begin to use that asset wisely? Valeria recommends asking yourself why you want to build an audience. Do you want to become an industry thought leader? Directly market a product or service? The goal of content creation strategy, she continues, will drive everything from content production to dissemination.

So the next time a blog deadline is hanging over your head and you find yourself wistfully gazing at a blue spring sky, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you’re producing an asset. Or the next time decision makers dictate the marketing department slap together a Facebook Page just so the company can say it is “social,” remind them that those platforms are assets.
