Take the Fear Out of Adopting New Social Media Platforms

August 3, 2011 | By | No Comments

Did your co-workers bring you dragging and screaming onto Twitter? Did your company launch a brand Facebook Page only after every single competitor had already done so? Adopting new tech can be daunting, especially when success requires resources like time and expertise. But it doesn’t need to be that way, according to entrepreneur and blogger Joe Hackman in a post on Social Media Today.

Joe shares his own experience as an early adopter: within an hour of joining social site Amplify, he posted one of the very first YouTube Screencast videos about the site and soon found himself making valuable connections and building his own reputation. Check out Joe’s post for his three tips for developing the early adoption mindset that allows you to, as he writes, “become the leader of your own journey!”

With the buzz about Google+ Joe’s post is especially relevant. Social media evolves at the speed of a click, and brands unable or unwilling to gamble take the chance of losing customers, revenue, market share, etc. to the competitors who will take that chance.
