How will social media evolve in 2011? Paul Dunay shares his 11 predictions, ranging from ecommerce hitting Facebook to a rise in News Feed Optimization (NFO). Although there are a number of goodies on the list, two caught our attention:

Social Media Strategists Evolve – Just as biz was getting used to the idea of a dedicated social media strategist, Dunay predicts this will be the year the position evolves into that of a Chief Customer Officer, charged with owning the customer experience by using what he calls “the gift of social media.”  

Digitally Fluent Marketers Make the Big Time – This is the year the techno geek will rise, writes Dunay. Firms will need to tap digitally fluent talent who can transform marketing into a dynamic and measurably profitable enterprise.

What’s a brand to do when it’s time to take the leap into social media staffing? Invest in an in-house social media team? Outsource? Maybe a combination?
