Social Media Off The Wall: “The Rent is Too Damn High” for a Zipline

July 8, 2011 | By | No Comments

Happy Friday everyone!  Social media this week was dominated by Facebook’s Announcement and President Obama’s Twitter Forum.  I watched both events and can tell you if you didn’t watch either, simply read what happened and you will be caught up. Here are the social media stories that kept me entertained during the past week:

“The Rent is Too Damn High” Movie?

I hope most of you have been blessed with the opportunity to see Jimmy McMillan’s “Rent is Too Damn High” Speech (over 6 million views) from last year’s New York Governor’s Debate.  He’s a karate expert and I would not mess with him.  Cinematographer Aaron Fisher-Cohen has put together a documentary on Jimmy McMillan entitled Damn! The film is planning for an August 16th DVD release. Watch the trailer below:

I highly recommend checking out the Damn! website and reading the synopsis. Do you think this film will be insightful or more used for humor?

Wedding Zipline

Summer time is upon us and usually that means its wedding season! “Wedding” and “zipline” are two words I never would expect to see in the same sentence, until I saw this video:

At least he checks to see if she is alright after slamming into her at Mach 3 on the zipline!  I love how the guy filming is letting everyone know that he got it all on tape.  Do you think this is the last time the bride and groom will try a zipline at their wedding?

Field of Dreams 2

Many of us have been wondering what NFL players, coaches, staff, and reporters have been doing while the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) negotiations drag on.  The great minds at gathered some of these players, announcers, and a few actors to put together a great spoof movie trailer called Field of Dreams 2.

“Is this heaven?….No its Iowa.”  There are some great cameos and it really shows how desperate we are to see some professional football played this year.

I hope everyone had a great week and enjoyed the blog.  Have a great weekend!
