Social Media Off The Wall: The Halloween Special
Social Media Off The Wall is a post every Friday where I share funny and entertaining stories or digital media clips that are trending & being shared frequently on social networks. If you have a great story or media bit that you think I can use in SMOTW, please feel free to share it with me via Twitter (@mlewii | #smotw).
Halloween Light Shows
For years people have been trying to time their holiday light displays with famous or popular music and posted the videos of their creations on YouTube. The “Christmas Lights Gone Wild” video posted over 6 years ago has over 9 million views and seems to be the benchmark for the holiday light shows. This year Halloween Light Shows have become very popular amongst these holiday enthusiasts. This video posted last week by the West Family in in Odessa, Texas will simply blow your mind:
The video has over 500,000 views in just over a week on YouTube and was also featured on The Huffington Post. The video simply blows my mind but a family out in Riverside, California has put together two great Halloween light show videos as well (Party Rock Anthem, This Is Halloween).
Which video did you like the most?
Pet Costume PSA
I feel like dressing your pet in a costume or ridiculous outfit should be considered a form of animal abuse. Yes that is a little harsh, but every time you see a dressed up pet, the animal looks terrified. Here is a great bit from The Jimmy Kimmel Show where they share a Public Service Announcement on Pet Costumes this Halloween:
I was between laughing and feeling sorry for the animals during the video, but it is great to see people finding humor in the ridiculousness of some pet owners.
Which costume was your favorite?
Lauren Francesca, Star of KeyofAwesome, teamed up with the improvisational group The Scary Snowman at Comic Con recently to scare some unsuspecting conference attendees with a simple snowman prank. The reactions from the people they scare are awesome:
I love the lady who says, “You Won’t Scare Me” and then jumps in fear when Francesca moves her way.
Would you of been fooled by this Snowman prank? What is the best Halloween related prank that you have either seen or heard?
Watch out for all of the little Trick-Or-Treaters at night! I hope everyone has a safe & unbelievably fun Halloween weekend!
