If you’re reading this blog, chances are you’ve already tapped into the value of social media to do anything from engage customers to manage online reputation. And even if you’re not shy when it comes to tweets, blogs, and posts, you likely know someone who is. So do a good deed today by sharing this post with a social media-phobe in your life.

You’ve read the articles. You’ve been ribbed by colleagues. You know it’s time to take your company into the realm of online social networks. But that first step can be a toughie.

Never fear:  help is here. It’s not Superman. It’s not Underdog. It’s Jeanne Hopkins on HubSpot Blog, who shares 7 Tips for the Social Media Challenged. Here’s an overview of two tips:

  • Feed the content monster.  Jeanne compares the web to a Cookie Monster-like beast that, instead of cookies, consumes content 24/7. One way to jump into social media is by publishing a blog.

What should you write about? Start by blogging about things your customers or clients ask you every day, whether it’s how to initiate divorce proceedings or how to correct a bad credit report.

  • Promote, promote, promote. Social media provides businesses with a smorgasbord of ways to share relevant news, updates, and promotions. You might announce the addition of a new team member or promote a happy hour special. Also remember to use social media, like Twitter or Facebook, to share links to that content you’ve worked so hard to create.
