Gaga Leak a Cue for Brands

Lady Gaga’s latest single “Judas” was leaked last week on the web, days before its scheduled release. Brenna Ehrlich on Mashable reports that music leaks are now common, with recent tunes from artists such as Kanye West and The Nationals appearing early.

Admittedly, most of us ordinary mortals don’t have a hot new single or video that could be leaked online, but the viral nature of the web has the potential to create real problems for businesses.

Imagine finding that footage of a prototype for a product in your pipeline was released on YouTube or that an influential blogger posted leaked reports that allege you’re laying off staff.

Imagine learning about those leaks from a customer, employee, or (yikes!) a reporter.

You may not be able to completely prevent leaks but an online and social media monitoring platform will give you the early warning flags needed to formulate a timely, professional, and effective response.
