All Talk, No Tweet – Test Reveals Which PR Firms “Get” Social

WANTED: A PR firm that “gets” social media. That’s the heart of the message tweeted by social media consultant and coach Nichole Kelly, who wanted to test the idea that agencies truly linked into social media would jump all over the message. The results were surprising. Nichole received responses from two firms, one of which she was already working with.

Nichole shares a list of questions that brands can use to find out if a social media agency is really plugged into the culture. Here are two of them:

  • How well does the firm manage their own social media presence? Check out their social network profiles to see if they’re professional and current. Also find out whether the company is responsive to client inquiries, questions, and comments posted on social media sites.
  • Does the firm’s presentation focus on YOU or THEM? Has the social media agency taken the time to understand your brand and industry before they dive into their pitch? Nichole also advises being wary of firms who aren’t ready to present at least a few targeted strategies or ideas specific to your company.
